What's Happening ... ?
New Item & Updates added on November 16, 2008
The STA would like to extend a hearty thank you to
everyone who contributed to our recent fund drive!
We can finally say "Paid in Full" regarding the fees
we incurred last year for professional services that
helped us win the case that determined the Home
Depot remodeling work was a Project and subject
to the regulations of the Specific Plan.
We raised a phenomenal amount of money in only
2 months, and we can confidently say the
community is united in the cause!

With the Dispute Resolution?  Well, as far as we are
concerned, it's over!
The October 16 group voted to
suspend any DRP talks until after Planning makes their
determination and all appeals are filed and remedied.

With Home Depot? We filed our response to the Home
Depot Project Permit Application. Now we just wait for
City Planning to make their decision about the level of
environmental review required. Read our response
Here.
(it's a large .pdf file)
Update: STILL WAITING for City
Planning to make a determination on what level of
Environmental Review will be required. We have
submitted a
rebuttal to LA Dept. of Transportation report.

New Item of Interest!
The Oro Vista Wildlife Corridor
We are happy to announce that we now have a real
possibility of saving the 4.75 acre parcel of open space in
Sunland at the corner of Oro Vista and Big T Canyon.
Many kudos to Elaine Brown, Mary Benson and Cindy
Cleghorn for filing a Property Acquisition Grant
Application for Prop 84 funding in partnership with the
Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and LA Trails, Inc.
This property is an important wildlife corridor along the
south bank of the wash and was already approved for
development. The property owner is willing to sell, and
we hope the Grant Application is approved. We'll be
following this closely, but probably won't know anything
until next spring. Stay tuned.
